I wasn't able to make the feature last week, so this one counts for two weeks. Enjoy.

Colours Vol. Three:iconwildrune11: Hello, and welcome to the third volume of Colours! I hope you enjoy this article. Please consider adding it to your to support the artists featured and the time I spent compiling it.
This time, I'd like to ask the readers a question. What do you think of editing photography? Is it something all photographers should try? Or is it something that should only be used in moderation, or never done? Do you think editing is a part of the art of photography? Or is it completely different and unrelated? Please leave your thoughts in a comment! I will include your opinions in my next article. If you do not wish for your opinion to be shared (or if you'd like to be anonymous), please say so in your comment.

RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE VOL 8Hello, everyone!
RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE is a weekly feature usually published by the wonderful JamminJo. She writes it to recognize one artist that stands out within our deviantART community. The deviant she selects must be outstanding and caring about others in the community, and the community itself!
Jo believes it's important to recognize outstanding deviants for their time and dedication. We also believe it's important and we think JamminJo meets the description. Therefore we are posting a special holiday edition of RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE in order to recognize Jo herself!
RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE VOL 8
Dedicated to JamminJo
JamminJo was so kind when I first met her on DeviantArt. Not only is she a helpful, generous, warm-hearted deviant, but she has a lovely gallery! She has only been on DeviantArt for a year and a half and has such an impact on other devian

Colours Vol. One:iconwildrune11: This skin was deeply inspired by the skins marioluevanos creates. I like the ways he uses colour and line in his designs. I made and discarded three journal skins while I was trying to come up with a design for this series, and when I had the idea to create a simple but attractive skin like his, I started work on a fourth skin (not knowing yet if I would use it or not). The first thing I did was create a colour palette at colorschemedesigner.com - a simple but powerful colour palette creation tool I recently discovered. As I started creating my skin and applying the colours I had selected, I realised what I would call my feature series - "Colours". The word "colours" can mean many things, and some of these meanings are things I want to achieve in my features.
So, "Colours" will be a journal feature series run by me!
Every article will include an interview, a spotlight artist and group, and some selecti

What is #projecteducate and Community Week?What is projecteducate and Community Week?
An introduction to projecteducate and Community Week, and information on how you can get involved with the project.
What is projecteducate?
projecteducate is an education project here on deviantART, conceived back in mid-late 2007 by MistressWit. She made the first plans towards the beginning of the group. However, life got very busy for her - so she couldn't visit deviantART very often. Six months later, shell4art followed her plans and officially launched projecteducate! Today, projecteducate is one of deviantART's official projects. It is currently being overseen by the wonderful Kaz-D.
projecteducate works by assigning a week to a particular gallery - such as Photography, Anthro, Vector, and so forth. Some or all of the Community Volunteers responsi

PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your workHello all!
Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation.
Why is Presentation important?
Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.
Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be

1. Happy Holidays and Merry New Year
As the old year begins to fade into the sunset, it is customary to reflect on the passing year and make plans for the upcoming one. Some do this in the form of resolutions, some people make action plans, some people just swing into the new year the same way they swung out of the old one Whatever way you intend to welcome in 2013, I hope you're surrounded by love and that you do it safely!
I've been reflecting on the year and like many, with some focus on the unimaginable events of the last few weeks. Specifically, the shooting in Newtown. I know that it's "human nature" to want to find
It's All About Presentation (Mostly)As more and more people start taking pictures of their nether regions on their iphones or posing myspace style in front of their HTC's - the competitive world of getting a Daily Deviation gets just that much harder... I kid. But... daily, I am bombarded with awesome suggestions (which I love) and I'm not complaining about. But there has to be a criteria of sorts, that sets an image above the rest. Here are a few things I look for that you might not have noticed before... The first thing I look at when I stumble across an image or view a suggestion from somebody, is how the artist has presented their work to the deviantART Community.
Your image isn't everything. Not anymore. In the past I have given Daily Deviations to pieces with titles that are a combination of random letters and numbers, or that are very obviously still the source file title - or that tends to be just a keyboard mash-up. Everyday CVs are sent many many notes suggesting pieces o
Everyday we're CV'ingAs a Community Volunteer - I do as much or as little within the community that I feel comfortable doing. We're not pressured to do this and that, we don't even have to give a Daily Deviation every day, we choose how we promote our selected galleries/chats and forums and we're not fixed to any specific rule on how much or how little we do. But I do believe that it's important to share with you just what the community volunteers do and why we do it. More importantly it's so easy to get lost on this site full of many people - and miss out on the awesome that's going on. So I'm going to share with you exactly what the latest awesome is...
Almost every week since October last year the Community Volunteers have been working hard both independently and as part of small teams to bring You Project Educate.
Project Educate is about bringing forward art forms whether they are popular or overlooked and giving

Self Suggesting DD'sThank you so much for all the +favs, the comments and +devwatchs I've received and still am for my Daily Deviation "Carried Away". You guys are awesome and I appreciate your support so much!
Now I have a confession to make... I self suggested this deviation to DomiSM, so it didn't come as a surprise I received it.
I know from being a volunteer that some people feel that DD's should be suggested by others or that it should be a surprise. Well no, not always. Sometimes you have to fight for your work to gain exposure. Gone are the days where deviantART was a small site... you need to learn how to use the channels on dA to get the exposure your work deserves.
These days, I work in vector and the high pecentage of work I upload to dA is client work. A huge part of being a Freelancer is marketting yourself and putting yourself out there. This is why self suggesting yourself for a Daily Deviation should be

Abandoned ChapelThe parish waits now,
the loneliness of corners
crawling outward on walls--
chipped away by the wind,
and held together
by silk spindles;
cobwebs align them like the membranes of memories,
the cut of a jewel in an broken window
against the sun
where beads of rain
gather in a mesh of strands
a new Mosaic
against the backdrop of a cemetery;
My eyes seek out the sermon
in close proximity,
paint no distance
between headstone and cloud;
elegies topple each other
in their climb to heaven
as light trickles
over the shade,
breathes a new glow over snuffed candles.
I feel the weight in these empty rows,
how a breath couldn't cease to be breath
in the midst of prayer.
