This time, I'd like to ask the readers a question. What do you think of editing photography? Is it something all photographers should try? Or is it something that should only be used in moderation, or never done? Do you think editing is a part of the art of photography? Or is it completely different and unrelated? Colours Vol. One:iconwildrune11: This skin was deeply inspired by the skins $marioluevanos creates. I like the ways he uses colour and line in his designs. I made and discarded three journal skins while I was trying to come up with a design for this series, and when I had the idea to create a simple but attractive skin like his, I started work on a fourth skin (not knowing yet if I would use it or not). The first thing I did was create a colour palette at colorschemedesigner.com - a simple but powerful colour palette creation tool I recently discovered. As I started creating my skin and applying the colours I had selected, I realised what I would call my feature series - "Colours". The word "colours" can mean many things, and some of these meanings are things I want to achieve in my features.
So, "Colours" will be a journal feature series run by me! :)

If there is one vital thing that I have learned in my years as an amateur photographer - it's that to diversify and spread yourself amongst as many outlets, ideas and topics as possible is the best way to move forward and become successful. Photography doesn't begin or end with a Wedding. Nor does it start with a fashion shoot that pays you hundreds of pounds. The Pulitzer Prize Winning Photos were announced this week and with it a debate was sparked about how best to display the controversial winners. The winning shot is Photo-journalism at it's best - and indeed humanity at its worst. The image depicts a young Afghan girl standing in the midst of the after effects of a bomb explosion. She is covered in blood, and around her lay bodies. Whilst the publication of graphic images has been a tough and much debated topic for some time - the very taking of such photos has sparked cynicism and unrest between many.
